Why should I trust J-Spec Imports with my money?
Well actually, you don't have to trust us with your money as we assist you to make all necessary payments directly (car cost, freight, duty, GST, compliance, etc.)

We assist a lot of clients in buying cars through the same agents in Japan all the time, so we carn be sure that we are getting consistently accurate descriptions and condition reports.

If you are interested in a car that is not held in stock with a trusted agent then we can arrange for a mechanic inspection, which generally includes around 60-100 additional photos, so you can be sure of the cars specifications and general condition. In the unlikely event that there is an oversight with the mechanic report, then we will work on your behalf in the effort to seek repairs from whoever is at fault.

Do you offer finance?
We do not offer finance - this is something that you will need to look into before deciding to buy direct from Japan.

Why are the cars so cheap?
Most car importers/dealers in Australia are making huge profits by selling cars for well above cost price, simply because people will pay that much. The cars we find are exactly the same cars, in the same condition as more expensive cars you will see on yards and at wholesalers, but without the huge mark-ups.

We don't have an expensive yard or warehouse to maintain and don't have to outlay any money, so we can keep our fee very small.

Think about this:

If a car costs $10,000 in Japan, it will owe you about $15,500 landed in Australia including import duty and GST - then the import agent/wholesaler will add about $2,000 for himself, the retail yard could add anything from $2,000-$6,000 for a car of this value, plus compliance at about $4,500 under the current SEVS scheme - a total cost of between $22,000-$28,000 would be normal.

If you imported the same car yourself you wouldn't pay the extra mark-ups and would get this car for around $20,000 ready to register (excluding the cost of new tyres, etc.).

How do you make money out of this?
We charge a set fee of $1000 per car, with discounts available for people that purchase multiple vehicles - Please note that, unlike a lot of vehicle importers, we make NO additional profits from ANY services by inflating the cost of transport or compliance.

Can I save money by arranging to have the car complianced myself?
The answer is "yes" because you own the car from Japan, so you have final say with everything. Be aware that there are some careless compliance workshops out there who will do a vastly inferior job for a cheap price - we have seen cars that have been complianced by some of these people with damaged interior panels, parts swapped with worn or damaged parts from other vehicles, or necessary parts left out completely (side intrusion bars, fuel nossel restrictor, child restraint mounting points, etc.) We also try to ensure that all of our clients cars are given priority to reduce delays.

What do you do that I can't easily do myself?
We can save you thousands of dollars and at the same time help you find the vehicle you want from around 100,000 vehicles each week at the large auctions, as well as having access to a huge dealer network in Japan with in excess of 250,000 cars listed at any time. We can assist with all of the paperwork necessary, from import approval through to arranging interstate delivery if needed.

What about insurance for imported cars?
You can get a list of recomended insurance companies HERE - you will have to spend a bit of time calling around for quotes, you should also contact a couple of insurance brokers as they can often get rates far better than going through the insurer directly.

Who can I go to for parts and servicing?
We can also assist our clients with parts and service. We have a well established parts network in Japan, Australia and New Zealand, ensuring that we can find most parts quickly. There are a number of import vehicle specialist service centers in each major city that will service your car at a similar price to an Australian delivered car.

Do you service the vehicle before delivery?
All vehicles must have all fluids and filters replaced, and get new catalytic converters fitted to the exhaust system as part of the ADR compliance. Timing belts are not part of the routine service, but can be changed on request. All cars require new tyres as part of the compliance, but the cost of tyres is not included in the compliance price.
We can also arrange for your new car to be fitted with body kits, mag wheels, turbo timers, boost controllers, etc - and we can even do dyno tuning. (all at your cost and liability, of course)
