Shipping from Japan

The basics you need to know

Vehicles are typically shipped via the Roll On/Roll Off (RORO) method, meaning cars are driven onto the ship in Japan and driven off at the destination port. Container shipping is rarely used as it is significantly more expensive with only minimal advantages. Cars are NEVER shipped above decks in the open sea spray, they are stored within the ship and are tied down securely. J-Spec arranges for the booking of vehicles to be shipped and arranges for customs clearance in Australia with all necessary paperwork being supplied to a customs clearance agent who can act on behalf of the customer to proceed with customs related issues, quarantine inspection and if desired further transportation of the car within Australia, so no action or knowledge of the process is required by the customer.
