/ AQIS inspections in JapanAQIS inspections in Japan1st Jan 2010![]() The Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) has recently announced in conjunction with shipping company Kiwi Car Carriers that vehicles can now be quarantine checked in Japan prior to shipping, as opposed to the old method of vehicles being inspected in Australia upon arrival. This means that the quarantine inspection (and cleaning if necessary) is done while the car is already sitting at the port doing nothing waiting for the next vessel, so no time is lost waiting for the inspection to take place. Previously it could take up to a week for AQIS inspectors to view a vehicle in Australia, and so the net result is the total time to import a vehicle has been reduced as waiting for this step is no longer needed. |
