Volkswagen Scirocco compliance is now available, 2.0L petrol turbo versions are eligible for import into Australia. The Scirocco is based on the Golf MK5 chassis but has a lower roofline and centre of gravity plus wider track, making handling in conjunction with a chassis around 100kg lighter than the Golf one of the Scirocco's stand-out features. It also has hefty go with a 154kW and 195kW powerplant available through the front wheels, depending on the model variant.

Models eligible for import:
The 2.0 TSI petrol turbo engine comes in two variants, the GT has 154kW and is available in either 6 speed DSG twin clutch tiptronic transmission or 6 speed manual, while the R has 195kW with 6 speed manual.
Availability:
Sciroccos are readily available in the UK though R models are slightly less common. Availability from Japan and NZ is possible but they are less plentiful.
Typical pricing:
As of late 2010 prices are usually around $45,000 - $60,000 for a Scirocco GT landed and complied, and around $60,000 and up for a Scirocco R.
